Janis Zelmenis

Janis Zelmenis is a Tax and Legal Partner at Deloitte specialising in international tax planning and commercial law. In the Baltics he is responsible for a full-service legal practice with a specialisation in merger and acquisition services, tax litigation and commercial law. He is experienced in resources and energy industry.

Janis is with the big 4 professional services firms since 1995. In 1998 he joined Deloitte & Touche as a manager and became a partner in 2002 responsible for the tax and legal practice in the Baltic states. Since 1998 Janis has assumed the leadership role of Deloitte & Touche Latvia Law Office. Over the last 5 years Janis has increasingly specialised in cross border tax planning. His main current focus is extensive outbound tax planning for Latvian companies investing overseas and tax planning in relation to Latvia’s accession in EU. Janis is a member (sworn advocate) of the Latvian Bar Association since November 1993 as well as a member of the Latvian Tax Consultants Association.
